So you’ve made the wonderful decision to give your child the gift of a summer at Camp Kweebec. Yikes, what now? No need to panic, we’ve got you covered! From the moment they step off the bus, first-time campers are made to feel included. The enthusiasm and energy all around makes the arrival of our first-timers exciting. Our new family members are embraced with warmth, high fives & hugs, and are immediately connected to their counselors and bunkmates.

When campers enter their bunk for the very first time, their bed and area will already be set up and unpacked. This allows them to walk into their summer “home” with a sense of familiarity, as they see their bed made and belongings already set up for them. The fun starts immediately afterwards, as the returning campers are ready to take them on a personally guided tour of the camp.

We know that many campers come to Kweebec for their first time not knowing anyone, and we spend a lot of energy trying to integrate our newest campers. Our very first day of camp is meticulously planned around achieving this goal. We work hard to create a culture of inclusion and respect. Making new friends is one of the best parts of camp and our staff is exceptional at making sure all campers feel included and at home. If a child does experience a period of sadness, our well-trained staff are right there to comfort them. With so many capable counselors and members of our leadership team, your child will always have a special person (or ten!) to lean on if the need arises.

Leaving home for the first time can be a bit scary for some, but it will also be one of the most extraordinary and rewarding experiences of your camper’s life.
