The Kweebec Program - Performance
The Performing Arts Program at Camp Kweebec is comprised of Dance, Drama and Music.
Dance is directly overseen and Directed by Kweebec’s own resident dance specialists, the Touch of Class Dance Studio and the 76er's Dance Team members. Many of the areas we focus on are stretching, strength, flexibility, skill development, creative movement, theater dance, hip hop, jazz and choreography. Our Instructors use different elements of dance and rhythm to emphasize the development of coordination and muscle control. We have a “guest” dance instructor from either Touch of Class or the Sixer's Dancers at Kweebec 5 days a week.
Touch of Class founder and Director Debbie Apalucci has trained under some of the finest teachers in New York City. Debbie has earned Choreographic credits for many local musical theater productions and commercial industrials for a variety of companies including Xerox Corporation, Capezio, St. Joseph University and Resorts Casino Hotel. Recently, Debbie stepped down after 12 successful seasons as the Director/Choreographer for the Sixers Dancers however, she still remains the director of the Sixer's Junior Dance Team. She has been featured with members of the Sixer's Dancers on ESPN TV’s “ProDance” Special and has choreographed three feature dances for the movie “Standing Ovations.” Debbie hand selects the instructors from Touch of Class that are at Kweebec 2 to 3 days each week to work closely with our campers.
The 76er's Dance Team is known as one of the top dance teams in the NBA. The Sixer's Dancers help Kweebec camper’s dance skills get to the next level with specific instruction on choreography, turns, leaps and hip hop. The Sixer's Dancers enthusiasm and love of performing help Kweebecers improve technique while having fun! At Kweebec our campers get to learn some of the Sixers Dancers newest routines as well as many of the choreographed routines currently being featured on Television.
Kweebec’s Dance and Drama Programs work collectively so that campers can experience the many varied aspects involved in producing a show. Our Performing and Visual Arts programs teach campers many components starting with rehearsals and costuming, to make-up, scenery, dance and music. The Drama Department produces talent shows, comedies, musicals and dramas. Music lessons and the Kweebec Rock Band are available to all interested campers.
